WRAPPING IT UP

Just returned from an all day tour of the area area surrounding Capetown including a boat trip to view a seal rookery, a scenic drive to the Cape of Good Hope, lunch at Cape Point (of course Ken hiked up to the old lighthouse for pictures), Boulders Pigeon Colony and finished the day with a visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Another full and very pleasant day. Dinner tonight with our Canadian "fellow passengers" and tomorrow, the long ride home begins.

It has been an awesome trip and an unforgettable one with wonderful traveling companions, a fantastic guide and good weather.

Thursday, May 17

Thursday May 17. Early breakfast and on the road by 8AM. We all agreed that our stay in Knysna was great and for Ken, too soon it was time to move along in our trek of South Africa. A drive through town reenforced our view of the beauty and hospitality of this very charming little city on the bay. We stopped at Victoria Beach for a glimpse of the surf and surfers. Our guide told us that this is one of the finest surfing beaches in the world and certainly, if our view was an indication, we believe him.

A quick stop for coffee and pastry at a charming roadside business was enjoyed and then we made our way to Oudtshoord, the ostrich capital of the world. We were given a tour of an ostrich ranch and three of our party provided us with a picture op as they sit sitting on the ostrich. I will elaborate more on our visit and include pictures after we get home and have time to assimilate all of the sights and sounds of this great trip. After a race between a male ostrich and female ostrich in which the male (of course) won we enjoyed a lovely lunch and then drove the short distance to our hotel where we will spend this, the last night of our structured tour.
