Happy New Year.
2006 has arrived and we saw the New Year in from our temporary abode at the El Golfo de Santa Clara RV Resort two hours south of Yuma Arizona.
Ken’s brother, Don and wife Linda joined us for the holidays and have been great guests in our limited space abode. It has been quiet but we enjoyed a 15 mile drive down the 26 miles of beach in Gary’s jeep, brought along expressly for this purpose. El Golfo is a “roughing it” comfortably resort near a little fishing village and Ken loves it because he can buy shrimp, clams and fish fresh from the sea. He can also fish but alas, he has not seen anyone partaking of the sport from the beach and does not want to waste his time. He spent $20 for 2 pounds of shrimp our first day here. Don prepared them and we had a tasty dinner of angel hair pasta with shrimp, salad and hot garlic bread sans the garlic. They were extra large shrimp but I thought them rather pricey for this locale.
Don and Linda will be with us until mid week when they must return to Cottonwood and resume their life among the actively employed. Ken and I on the other hand, will just sit back and enjoy the act of retirement.
We will be here until the 12th when we rendezvous with friends in Gila Bend, Arizona for a trek South to Mazatlan and on down the pike to a resort outside Puerto Vallarta. We are pleased to be permitted to share their travel caravan and look forward to a good time with new friends and people.
Ours was a wonderful Christmas and the family time with loved ones outstanding. Our grandchildren are growing up and thus, each holiday that we are permitted to share with them is precious.
More from the Gulf as the days pass by.
